SMS Appoints Group Business Development Manager to Further Expand Global Presence
Aberdeen-based sand management specialist, SMS (Sand Monitoring Services Ltd), today (1st August, 2011) announces the appointment of Frazer Barclay as Group Business Development Manager at its Aberdeen headquarters. This key appointment will be instrumental in continuing to grow the SMS brand by increasing its core business, global presence and services portfolio.
Frazer, an honours graduate in Geology and Applied Geology from the University of Glasgow, brings with him more than 12 years industry experience related to sub-surface geoscience consultancy and business development. Andrew concludes, “SMS has grown to offer best in class sand monitoring and management services to the oil and gas industry, and our staff are instrumental to this. SMS Announce Appointment to Steering Committee of Sand Management Network
Aberdeen-based sand management and sand monitoring specialists, SMS, today (Friday 11th November) announces its appointment to the Sand Management Network Steering Committee for its next phase; 2010 - 2012. The steering committee has the overall responsibility to define the strategic direction and focus of the network. The first steering committee meeting with the new group will take place in Aberdeen on Tuesday 30th November.
The new steering committee will also be formed with Maersk Oil, Statoil ASA and Halliburton as well as RGU and OTM Consulting.
Andrew Kinsler, Director of SMS, says, “Being appointed to the steering committee of the Sand Management Network is an extremely prestigious accolade for us and confirms our position as key players in the sand management and sand monitoring field. The network is an ever expanding group of upstream oil and gas related companies that have come together to tackle sand management related issues. The network's purpose is to communicate successful methods and gaps of managing sand in the North Sea to allow the continued development and operation of offshore fields.”
Andrew continues, “The mixture of operator and supplier members give different perspectives on the industry. As a Board we will be looking at the future of sand management over the next five to ten years and will be addressing key issues such as sanding prediction, sand monitoring, intelligent systems and a focus on the North Sea and Atlantic margin.”
SMS will also be exhibiting at the SPE ICoTA 16th European Well Intervention Round Table next week (17th/18th November 2010). The annual event is attended by up to 300 well intervention specialists from UK, Europe and world-wide for what many see as vital discussions on sustaining the North Sea oil and gas industry.
ICoTA is Europe’s premier forum for exchange and discussion of the latest developments in completion and intervention techniques, and coiled tubing technologies. The two-day conference features case studies, lessons learned and innovations.
Andrew Kinsler, Director of SMS, comments, “ICoTA is one of the premier events for professionals in the intervention sector to attend and for those who recognise the value of continuing education and industry networking. We will be showcasing an on-line demo backing up case study data taken over a series of well service operations, notably well testing, CT Clean Outs and frac operations from the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS). Sand and solids such as proppant can be effectively detected utilising acoustic or intrusive monitoring technology, but in isolation, this data is not sufficient to manage the risks and hazards associated with erosive solids production during well service operations. What is required is an integrated approach that can analyse solids production data as well as the overall process of sand and solids management.”
